Rescue underway at Swiss ski resort as ski lift cabin crashes down mountain

BERLIN, March 18 (Reuters) – A rescue operation is underway in ​a Swiss ‌ski resort after media reported that a cable car cabin crashed ‌down ​a snowy ⁠mountainside during ⁠strong winds, although it is unclear whether people were inside.

A ​spokesperson for air-rescue service Rega said ⁠one ⁠helicopter was involved ​in the operation but ​gave no further details. ‌Swiss newspaper 20 Minuten said at least one person ⁠had been injured.

The incident took place in the ⁠ski ‌resort of Engelberg ⁠in central ​Switzerland. The ‌local lift company ​BET was ⁠not immediately available for comment.
