Factbox-Storms cut power to 396,000 customers in US Midwest, Mid-Atlantic; Ohio hardest hit

NEW YORK, March 13 (Reuters) – Over 396,000 homes ​and businesses were ‌without power on Friday as severe storms battered the U.S. Midwest ‌and ​Mid-Atlantic region, ⁠according to data ⁠from PowerOutage.us.

The hardest-hit state was Ohio, with around 123,000 outages, ​representing about 2.3% of the state’s ⁠roughly 5.4 ⁠million customers, according ​to the data.

The hardest-hit ​utility in Ohio was ‌a unit of American Electric Power, with around 40,000 ⁠homes and businesses in the state without service. AEP ⁠provides ‌service to around ⁠1.5 million ​electric ‌customers in Ohio, ​the data ⁠showed.
