BEIJING, March 11 (Reuters) – BMW will recall 147,830 vehicles in China over a “manufacturing issue ‌with the starter motor,” which could result in difficulty starting the vehicle or ‌in “extreme cases … pose a fire risk,” China’s market regulator said on Wednesday.

The recall will cover some imported BMW 2 Series, 4 Series, 5 Series, 6 Series, 7 Series, X4, X5, X6, and Z4 vehicles manufactured between July 31, 2020 ‌and December 22, 2022, according to a statement released by China’s State Administration for Market Regulation.

In February, the German automaker said a ‌mid-six-figure number of cars would be affected ‌by a global recall after a potential starter motor defect was discovered.
