MEXICO CITY, Feb 28 (Reuters) – The body of Mexican cartel boss Nemesio Oseguera, the country’s most wanted man until his death a week ago, was returned to his family, the attorney general’s office said on Saturday.
Osguera, known as “El Mencho”, was killed in a military operation in Jalisco state on Sunday. That sparked a wave of retaliatory violence by the cartel across much of Mexico, killing dozens and temporarily stranding foreign tourists in their hotels.
The attorney general’s office said they had performed genetic tests to match the remains to the relatives. The office did not say where the handover took place.
