Reports: RHP Nick Martinez, Rays agree to 1-year deal

The Tampa Bay Rays and right-hander Nick Martinez agreed to ‍a one-year contract, multiple media outlets reported Monday.

Per MLB.com, the veteran swingman’s deal is for $13 million.

Martinez, ‌35, was 11-14 with ‌a 4.45 ERA in 40 games (26 starts) last season with the Cincinnati Reds. He ​struck out 116 over a career-high 165 ‍2/3 innings ​to help the ​Reds reach the postseason for ‍the first time since 2020.

Over eight seasons with the Texas Rangers (2014-17), San Diego Padres (2022-23) and ‍Reds (2024-25), Martinez is 48-59 with a 4.16 ERA in 280 ‍games (129 ‍starts), with a ​1.302 WHIP in ​940 ⁠innings.

Martinez spent four ‌seasons in Nippon Professional Baseball from 2018-21 with the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters and Fukuoka Softbank Hawks.
