Reports: Pirates sign RHP Jose Urquidy to 1-year contract

The Pittsburgh Pirates signed right-hander Jose Urquidy ‍to a one-year contract, multiple media outlets reported on Thursday.

The ‌Pittsburgh Post-Gazette ‌reported the deal is worth $1.5 million for Urquidy, who returned from ​Tommy John surgery ‍in June ​2024 to ​make two relief ‍appearances with the Detroit Tigers last season.

Urquidy, 30, is 27-16 ‍with a 4.00 ERA in 81 games (70 ‍starts) ‍with the ​Houston Astros ​and ⁠Tigers. He was ‌part of the Astros’ World Series championship team in 2022.
