Ethiopia economy to expand 10.2% in 2025-26, prime minister says

ADDIS ABABA, Feb 3 (Reuters) – Ethiopia’s economy is forecast to expand ‍10.2% in 2025-26, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said on Tuesday, higher than the finance ministry’s projection ‌of 8.9% given ‌in June.

“Based on a review of the growth performance over the past six months ​of the current fiscal year, the plan ‍has been ​revised to project ​that Ethiopia will record 10.2% ‍growth by the end of the year,” Abiy told lawmakers.

The fiscal year runs from July ‍8, 2025, to July 7, 2026.

The East African nation, ‍which ‍is restructuring its ​external debt, is ​implementing ⁠far-reaching economic reforms backed ‌by an International Monetary Fund loan programme.
