Report: Falcons add Alex Van Pelt as QB coach

The Atlanta Falcons hired Alex Van Pelt as quarterbacks coach under new head coach ‍Kevin Stefanski, NFL Network reported Saturday.

Van Pelt, 55, was a senior offensive assistant for the Los Angeles Rams this past season, after serving ‌as the New England Patriots’ ‌offensive coordinator in 2024. He was Stefanski’s offensive coordinator with the Cleveland Browns from 2020-23.

A former quarterback for the ​Kansas City Chiefs (1993) and Buffalo Bills (1994-2003), Van Pelt’s first coaching ‍job came for ​NFL Europe’s Frankfurt Galaxy ​in 2005 before joining the Bills’ ‍staff in 2006 through 2009. He also has spent time as a coach with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Green Bay Packers and ‍Cincinnati Bengals.

Earlier this month, the Falcons hired Tommy Reese as offensive coordinator and ‍Bill ‍Callahan as offensive line ​coach.

Defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich, senior ​defensive ⁠assistant Dave Huxtable, assistant ‌offensive line coach Nick Jones and running backs coach Michael Pitre all were retained from the staff of former Falcons head coach Raheem Morris.
