Women’s Top 25 roundup: Mississippi St. takes down No. 15 Tennessee

Kharyssa Richardson scored 21 points and Mississippi State delivered a 77-62 victory over No. 15 Tennessee on Thursday, handing the Volunteers their first Southeastern Conference loss of the season in action at Knoxville, Tenn.

Trayanna Crisp added 15 points, five rebounds and three steals for the Bulldogs (16-6, 3-5 SEC), who outscored Tennessee 50-30 over the middle two quarters. Madison Francis contributed 12 points and 10 rebounds and Favour Nwaedozi had 11 points and 14 rebounds for Mississippi State.

Talaysia Cooper scored 19 points and Mia Pauldo added 13 points and four steals for the Volunteers (14-4, 6-1). Janiah Barker added 10 points for Tennessee, which had a seven-game winning streak halted.

The contest was tied at 26 before Mississippi State scored the final ‍nine points of the first half. The advantage reached 20 late in the third quarter as the Bulldogs cruised to the finish of the upset win.

No. 3 South Carolina 81, Auburn 51

All 11 Gamecocks players got on the scoresheet in a one-sided victory over the host Tigers.

Joyce Edwards paced South Carolina (21-2, 7-1 SEC) with 20 points in 24 minutes. Tessa Johnson added 13 points for the Gamecocks, who have rolled to consecutive routs since an overtime loss to then-No. 16 Oklahoma.

Syriah Daniels scored 11 points as Auburn (13-9, 2-6) took its third loss in a row. Harissoum Coulibaly added 10 points for the Tigers, who shot 30% from the floor.

No. 4 Texas 88, Florida 68

Madison Booker compiled 24 points, six rebounds and three steals to help the Longhorns cruise to the victory over the Gators in Gainesville, Fla.

Aaliyah Crump had 14 points and fellow reserve Kyla Oldacre added 12 points and six boards for Texas (20-2, 5-2 SEC). The Longhorns shot 56.1% from the field and had a 60-30 advantage in points in the paint.

Laila Reynolds scored 18 points and Me’Arah O’Neal added 17 for Florida (13-10, 1-7), which lost for the seventh time in the past eight games. Liv McGill had 15 points, eight assists and seven rebounds but also committed nine of ‌the Gators’ 21 turnovers.

No. 6 LSU 92, Arkansas 70

Flau’jae Johnson and Mikaylah Williams scored 17 points apiece to help the Tigers knock off the Razorbacks in Baton Rouge, La.

Backup Kate Koval recorded 12 points, 15 ‌rebounds, five blocked shots and three steals and Jada Richard added 12 points, nine assists and five rebounds for LSU (20-2, 6-2 SEC). Grace Knox also scored 12 points and ZaKiyah Johnson had 11 for the Tigers, who had a 56-34 rebounding advantage while winning their sixth straight game.

Taleyah Jones made five 3-pointers and scored 23 points for Arkansas (11-11, 0-7), which lost its eighth straight game. Jenna Lawrence had 12 points on four treys off the bench while Bonnie Deas and reserve Maria Anais Rodriguez scored 11 points apiece for the Razorbacks.

No. 7 Louisville 84, Stanford 66

Laura Ziegler recorded 22 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Cardinals to the easy win over the host Cardinal.

Mackenly Randolph added 14 points and Skylar Jones had 11 as Louisville (20-3, 10-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) won its 13th straight contest. The Cardinals led by as many as 27 points during ​the wire-to-wire victory.

Courtney Ogden scored 16 points and Chloe Clardy and Shay Ijiowoye added 15 apiece for Stanford (15-7, 4-5), which lost for the fourth time in five games. Leading scorer Nunu Agara missed the contest after sustaining a facial injury against Cal on Sunday.

Southern California 81, No. 8 Iowa 69

Kara Dunn produced 25 points, 12 rebounds and five assists while leading the Trojans to an upset win over the Hawkeyes in Los Angeles, ending Iowa’s eight-game winning streak.

Jazzy Davidson added 21 points and eight assists as Southern California (12-9, 4-6 Big Ten) won for just the second ‍time in eight games. The Trojans led 28-13 after the first quarter and never lost the lead.

Journey Houston compiled 16 points and eight rebounds for Iowa (18-3, 9-1), ​and Ava Heiden totaled 13 points and eight boards. Consecutive baskets by Houston got the Hawkeyes within three points midway through the third quarter, but USC responded with an 11-0 run to pull away.

No. 9 Michigan ​95, Indiana 67

Olivia Olson scored a season-high 27 points to help the Wolverines roll to the easy victory over the Hoosiers at Bloomington, Ind.

Mila Holloway added 17 points and Syla Swords had 10 points and five steals for Michigan (18-3, 9-1 Big Ten). The Wolverines never tracked and racked ‍up 16 steals while holding a 29-10 edge in fastbreak points.

Maya Makalusky scored 17 points before fouling out for Indiana (11-11, 0-10), which dropped its ninth straight game. Shay Ciezki had 13 points before fouling out and Lenee Beaumont also scored 13 for the Hoosiers.

No. 10 Oklahoma 85, Texas A&M 58

Payton Verhulst made five 3-pointers and scored 16 points and Aaliyah Chavez had 14 points as the Sooners roughed up the Aggies in Norman, Okla.

Sahara Williams registered 12 points, nine rebounds and five assists and Raegan Beers also scored 12 for Oklahoma (17-4, 5-3 SEC). The Sooners led by as many as 31 points while winning their third straight game following a three-game slide.

Lauren Ware had 15 points and seven rebounds for Texas A&M (8-9, 1-7), which lost its fifth straight game. Ny’Ceara Pryor had 12 points and Fatmata Janneh had 10 for the Aggies.

No. 11 Ohio State 81, Wisconsin 58

Jaloni Cambridge scored 21 of her 29 points in the second half to help the Buckeyes cruise past the Badgers in Columbus, Ohio.

Elsa Lemmila added 14 points, 14 rebounds and four blocked shots for Ohio State (19-3, 8-2 Big Ten), ‍which bounced back from a 91-70 loss to then-No. 10 Iowa on Sunday. Chance Gray added 10 points for the Buckeyes, who committed nine turnovers and forced Wisconsin into 25.

Destiny Hayes accounted for half the Badgers’ points by scoring 29 points on 11-of-16 shooting. Hayes made five 3-pointers as Wisconsin (13-9, 5-6) sank 11 of 24 from behind the arc.

No. 12 TCU 79, Kansas 77

Olivia Miles recorded 20 points and six assists and Donovyn Hunter added 15 points as the Horned Frogs held off the Jayhawks in Fort Worth, Texas.

Marta Suarez had 13 points and ‍eight rebounds for TCU (20-2, 8-1 Big 12), which never trailed. The Horned Frogs shot 10 of 20 from ‍3-point range while Kansas made just 2 of 12 from behind the arc.

Jaliya Davis totaled 29 points and nine rebounds and S’Mya Nichols added 24 points for the Jayhawks (13-9, 3-7). An offensive foul ​on TCU’s Veronica Sheffey with 0.6 seconds left gave Kansas a chance to force overtime, but Davis’ layup was ruled to have come after the buzzer.

No. 13 Michigan State 86, Purdue 65

Grace VanSlooten ​scored 17 points and Kennedy ⁠Blair stood out with 15 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and five steals as the Spartans routed the Boilermakers in West Lafayette, Ind.

Ines Sotelo added 12 points before fouling out and Jalyn ‌Brown had 11 points for Michigan State (19-2, 8-2 Big Ten). The Spartans never trailed and owned a 19-3 edge in fastbreak points.

Avery Gordon scored 20 points on 9-of-11 shooting for Purdue (11-10, 3-7). Madison Layden-Zay had 18 points on six 3-pointers.

No. 20 Duke 74, Miami 58

Toby Fournier registered 23 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Blue Devils past the Hurricanes in Coral Gables, Fla.

Taina Mair added 18 points and three steals and Jordan Wood had 12 points for Duke (15-6, 10-0 ACC), which won its 12th straight game. The Blue Devils were 7 of 13 from 3-point range while Miami hit just 1 of 11 long-range attempts.

Ra Shaya Kyle had 21 points and nine points for the Hurricanes (12-9, 4-6). Gal Raviv added 16 points for Miami, which has dropped five of its past seven games.

No. 24 Alabama 68, No. 23 Georgia 53

Essence Cody had 16 points on 6-of-7 shooting and Ta’Mia Scott added 13 points to help the Crimson Tide knock off the Lady Bulldogs in Athens, Ga.

Karly Weathers registered 11 points and eight rebounds and Jessica Timmons added 10 points for Alabama (19-3, 5-3 SEC). The Crimson Tide outscored Georgia 37-25 in the second half.

Mia Woolfolk scored 13 points before fouling out for the Bulldogs, who missed ⁠their final 11 field-goal attempts. Rylie Theuerkauf added 11 points.
