Lindsey Vonn, 41, headlines 232-member Team USA

At age 41, alpine skier Lindsey Vonn leads the United States team headed to the Milan Cortina Olympics ‍as one of seven athletes competing at the Games for the fifth time.

Hockey player Hilary Knight, figure skater Evan Bates, snowboarders Faye Thelen and Nick Baumgartner, and bobsledders Kaillie ‌Humphries and Elana Meyers Taylor ‌are also competing at their fifth Olympics.

With one gold medal and two bronzes, Vonn joins a group of 33 returning American medalists. Fellow ​alpine skier Mikaela Shiffrin has won two golds and a silver and Taylor ‍has won three silvers ​and two bronzes, while Humphries ​has three golds.

Other multiple-medal winners competing in Italy ‍include two-time gold medalist snowboarder Chloe Kim, cross country skier Jessie Diggins, who has one of each medal, and freestyle skier Alex Ferreira who won a silver ‍in 2018 and a bronze in 2022.

The U.S. team has an almost even balance with 117 ‍men ‍competing alongside 115 women. The ​ages of the athletes range from ​15-year-old ⁠freeskier Abby Winterberger to 54-year-old ‌curler Rich Ruohonen.

Olympic competition kicks off on Feb. 4 with mixed-doubles curling ahead of the opening ceremony in Milan on Feb. 6. Closing ceremonies will take place on Feb. 22.
