California governor alleges TikTok is suppressing content critical of Trump

WASHINGTON, Jan 26 (Reuters) – California Governor Gavin Newsom alleged ‍on Monday that TikTok was suppressing content critical of President Donald Trump and ‌that Newsom ‌was launching a review of the social media platform’s content moderation practices to ​determine if they violated state ‍law.

“Gavin ​Newsom is launching ​a review of this ‍conduct and is calling on the California Department of Justice to determine ‍whether it violates California law,” his office said ‍on ‍X.

Newsom, a Democrat, ​and Trump, ​a ⁠Republican have long ‌been critical of each other’s policies.
