Lynx G Kayla McBride tears quad while training in Turkey

Minnesota Lynx star Kayla McBride sustained a torn right quad muscle ‍while training with Turkish club Fenerbahce Opet in Istanbul.

While Fenerbahce Opet announced that there was no timeline ‌for McBride’s return to ‌the court, the five-time WNBA All-Star guard wrote the following on X: “guys guys guys (tearful emoji) ​my timetable is set and I’m recovering ‍and everything is ​okayyyy.”

McBride, 33, averaged ​14.2 points, 3.5 assists and ‍2.3 rebounds in 39 games (all starts) last season.

She has averaged 14.4 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.5 ‍assists in 374 career games (371 starts) with the San Antonio Stars (2014-17), ‍Las ‍Vegas Aces (2018-20) and ​Lynx. San Antonio ​drafted ⁠her with the No. ‌3 overall pick in 2014.

McBride is the WNBA’s active leader and ranks seventh all-time with 722 made 3-pointers.
