Free-agent left-hander Ranger Suarez agreed to terms on a five-year, $130 million contract with the Boston ‍Red Sox, multiple media outlets reported on Wednesday.

Saurez will join a Red Sox rotation that features left-hander Garrett Crochet, right-hander Brayan Bello and offseason acquisitions ‌Sonny Gray and Johan ‌Oviedo.

The reports come on the same day that the Chicago Cubs announced the acquisition of third baseman Alex Bregman on a five-year deal. The three-time All-Star batted .273 with 18 homers and ‍62 RBIs in 114 games last season with Boston.

Suarez, 30, recorded back-to-back 12-8 seasons ‍in 2024 and 2025 for the Philadelphia Phillies. He trimmed his ERA from 3.46 in 2024 to 3.20 while making 26 appearances (all starts) ‍in 2025.

After the season, the Phillies tendered a qualifying offer to Suarez. He declined ‍it.

An ‍All-Star in 2024, Suarez sports a 53-37 record with four saves and a 3.38 ERA ‌in 187 career appearances (119 starts) with the Phillies. He owns a 4-1 record with a sterling 1.48 ERA in 11 appearances (eight starts) in the playoffs.
