The Washington Wizards will wait to reevaluate recently acquired guard Trae Young’s right leg injuries until after the All-Star ‍break in mid-February, ESPN reported on Wednesday afternoon.

A four-time All-Star, Young has not played for the Wizards since they acquired him last week from the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for veteran ‌guard CJ McCollum and forward ‌Corey Kispert on Jan. 7.

Young, 27, is recovering from MCL and quad injuries and hasn’t played since Dec. 27, scoring nine points with 10 assists in the Hawks’ 128-125 loss to the visiting New York Knicks. Young played ‍in 10 games this season for the Hawks and averaged 19.3 points and 8.9 assists — both the lowest ‍since his rookie season — and 1.5 rebounds while shooting 41.5% from the field and 30.5% from 3-point range.

He led the league last season with 11.6 assists per game. ‍Young’s career average of 9.8 assists per game is the third highest in NBA history behind only ‍Hall of ‍Famers Earvin “Magic” Johnson and John Stockton.

Over eight seasons and 493 games (all starts), Young has averaged 25.2 points ‌and 3.5 rebounds per contest.

The fifth overall pick of the 2018 NBA Draft, Young was selected to the All-Star Game in 2020, 2022, 2024 and 2025. He was third-team All-NBA in 2021-22.
