Penguins place D Erik Karlsson (lower body) on IR

Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Erik Karlsson was placed on injured reserve with ‍a lower-body injury on Tuesday.

Karlsson will be re-evaluated in two weeks, the team announced.

A three-time Norris ‌Trophy recipient as ‌the NHL’s top defenseman, Karlsson logged 23 minutes and 12 seconds of ice time during ​Sunday’s 1-0 setback to the Boston Bruins.

Karlsson, ‍35, has ​recorded 33 points (four goals, ​29 assists) and a ‍minus-1 rating in 44 games this season.

He has totaled 903 points (204 goals, 699 assists) in 1,128 ‍career games with the Ottawa Senators (2009-18), San Jose Sharks (2018-23) and ‍Penguins.

Also ‍on Tuesday, the ​Penguins recalled forward ​Tristan ⁠Broz and defenseman Ryan ‌Graves from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League. Forward Rafael Harvey-Pinard was re-assigned to the AHL affiliate.
