The Atlanta Falcons kicked off their search for a new head coach by interviewing ‍Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver, the team announced Saturday.

Weaver, 45, concluded his second season as defensive coordinator with the Dolphins. He was a ‌position coach on that ‌side of the line with the New York Jets (2012), Buffalo Bills (2013), Cleveland Browns (2014-15), Houston Texans (2016-19) and Baltimore Ravens (2021-23) before becoming the Texans’ DC in 2020.

The Falcons finished the 2025 season ‍with an 8-9 mark, with head coach Raheem Morris and general manager Terry ‍Fontenot fired at the conclusion of the campaign.

The announcement comes on the same day the Falcons named former quarterback Matt Ryan to ‍the new role of president of football.

Ryan will report to team owner Arthur Blank, ‍who ‍announced the hiring.

Atlanta’s new general manager and head coach will report to Ryan, who ‌is tasked with overseeing football operations. He will collaborate with team president and CEO Greg Beadles, who is in charge of the business side.
