Blues sign D Philip Broberg to six-year, $48 million deal

The St. Louis Blues signed defenseman Philip Broberg to a six-year, $48 million extension ‍through the 2031-32 season Saturday.

Broberg, 24, is in his second season with the Blues. He was slated to become a restricted free ‌agent July 1.

Broberg has ‌14 points (two goals, 12 assists) and 71 blocked shots in 45 games this season. The Swede is averaging ​a team-best 23:18 of ice time this season among skaters ‍and has drawn ​just six penalty minutes.

Last ​season, he established career highs ‍of 29 points, 21 assists, eight goals, 103 blocks and 68 games.

Broberg spent three seasons with the Edmonton Oilers before joining ‍the Blues as a restricted free agent prior to the 2024-25 season.

Overall, ‍Broberg has ‍12 goals and ​56 points in 194 ​career ⁠NHL games. He also has ‌three goals and two assists in 27 playoff games.

Broberg recently was named to Team Sweden’s roster for the upcoming Winter Olympic Games.
