Jan 9 (Reuters) – Christopher Raia, the head of the ‍FBI’s office in New York, is expected to become the deputy director of ‌the bureau, succeeding ‌Dan Bongino, the New York Times reported on Friday, citing people familiar with the matter.

Raia, a career agent, ‍is expected to start in the job as ‍early as next week, the newspaper said.

Bongino, a former New York City ‍police officer and right-wing podcaster who was an unconventional ‍pick ‍for the role, ended his short tenure as the ‌bureau’s second-highest-ranking official last week.
