Report: Inter Miami close to retaining playoff hero Tadeo Allende

Inter Miami are finalizing the retention of playoff standout Tadeo Allende on a permanent transfer from ‍the Spanish club Celta Vigo, The Athletic reported Wednesday.

Allende scored well into stoppage time in the MLS Cup in December to punctuate Miami’s 3-1 victory over the ‌Vancouver Whitecaps. His record ninth ‌goal of the MLS postseason sealed the club’s first league title.

Allende’s new deal should be signed this week, according to the report, which noted Miami successfully negotiated his transfer with Celta Vigo despite ‍overtures from River Plate, one of Argentina’s historically dominant clubs.

A 26-year-old Argentine winger, Allende bagged ‍11 goals in 31 regular-season matches (26 starts) in 2025 for the Herons, who acquired him on loan last January.

Allende reportedly is not expected to be ‍Miami’s third and final designated player. Argentine countrymen Lionel Messi and Rodrigo De Paul occupy ‍DP ‍spots for the club, meaning their large salaries have a greatly reduced impact on the ‌salary cap.

Allende made 11 La Liga appearances for Celta Vigo across the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons. He spent two previous seasons with Godoy Cruz of Argentina’s Primera Division.
