WASHINGTON, Jan 7 (Reuters) – New U.S. dietary guidelines mention alcohol, ‍which should be consumed in small amounts, Dr. Mehmet Oz, administrator for the ‌Centers for ‌Medicare & Medicaid Services, said on Wednesday.

Oz made his remarks to reporters after the release of nutrition guidelines that ‍abandon long-standing recommendations that Americans restrict alcohol consumption ‍to two beverages a day for men and one for women.

“So there is ‍alcohol (in) these dietary guidelines but the implication is, ‍don’t ‍have it for breakfast. There should be something done, ‌a small amount,” Oz said.
