Russia-installed Kherson governor says 24 killed in strike on New Year celebrations

MOSCOW, Jan 1 (Reuters) – Vladimir Saldo, the Russian-installed governor of Ukraine’s ‌southern Kherson region, ‌said on Thursday that at least 24 people were killed and more than ​50 injured in what he ‍said was ​a Ukrainian drone ​strike on a ‍hotel and cafe where New Year celebrations were being held.

Saldo said in a ‍post on Telegram that the strike took place in ‍Khorly, ‍a coastal ​village close to ​the ⁠Russian-controlled Crimean peninsula.

Reuters ‌could not immediately verify the report.
