White Sox reach 1-year deal with LHP Sean Newcomb

The Chicago White Sox agreed to terms Tuesday with left-hander Sean Newcomb ‍on a one-year, $4.5 million contract.

Newcomb, 32, posted a 2-5 record with two saves and a 2.73 ERA in 48 ‌games (five starts) last season ‌split between the Boston Red Sox and Athletics. The Massachusetts native began his season in Boston ​before being traded to the A’s on May ‍27 in exchange ​for cash considerations.

Newcomb is ​30-30 with four saves and ‍a 4.20 ERA in 223 career appearances (65 starts) for the Atlanta Braves (2017-22), Chicago Cubs (2022), Athletics (2023-25) and Red Sox (2025).

To ‍make room for Newcomb on the 40-man roster, the White Sox ‍designated ‍left-hander Ryan Rolison for ​assignment.

Rolison, 28, was ​claimed ⁠off waivers from Atlanta ‌on Dec. 12. He went 1-0 with a 7.02 ERA in 31 appearances (one start) last season with the Colorado Rockies.
