The Pittsburgh Pirates have agreed with All-Star first baseman Ryan O’Hearn on a two-year, $29 million ‍contract, according to multiple reports on Tuesday afternoon.

O’Hearn, 32, was selected to his first All-Star Game last season when he hit career highs with ‌a .281 batting average, 17 ‌home runs and 63 RBIs in a combined 144 games for the Baltimore Orioles (94) and San Diego Padres (50).

The free agent is joining a Pittsburgh roster that added All-Star second baseman ‍Brandon Lowe, outfielder Jake Mangum and left-hander Mason Montgomery last week in a three-team ‍trade, as well as former Boston Red Sox outfield prospect Jhostynxon Garcia and veteran reliever Gregory Soto earlier this month.

For his career, ‍O’Hearn is batting .252 with 84 homers and 313 RBIs in 740 regular-season games for ‍the ‍Kansas City Royals (2018-22), Orioles (2023-25) and Padres (2025), who acquired him and outfielder Ramon Laureano from ‌Baltimore for six prospects at the trade deadline.

Kansas City selected O’Hearn in the eighth round of the 2014 MLB Draft out of Sam Houston State.
